Promo - What To Do

1. Listening Party Version 1 (Hanson Party) - Invite friends, roommates or dormmates to a casual (listening) party. Serve pizza or snacks and put on your Walk CD. Let the music play in the background. Sooner or later, someone will ask what cd is playing. Don't be pushy, but introduce them to Hanson's new music. If you've seen a show, talk about it. Tell them which song is your favorite and why. And if anyone makes the "3 little girls" comment, that would be a good time to show them one of the new pictures of the guys. Many are shocked when they realize how the guys have grown up.

2. Listening Party Version 2 - (Are You Listening Party) - Do everything the same as above , but with one difference. Ask each person invited to bring along a cd of an artist they want you to listen to. Throughout the evening, change the cds and talk about each artist/band. Not only will you introduce Hanson to other people, but you will probably discover some great new music as well.

3. Give fliers to your friends and family. Direct them to Hanson.net to listen to clips or lend them your Walk CD. Let the music speak for itself. No need to be overly pushy, though with friends you can usually push a little harder. :)

4. Schools (college or high school) - Ask permission to hang fliers on bulletin boards or to hand out fliers to fellow students. Do not put up fliers if you've been told not to. This will only make the band look bad. Again, be enthusiastic, but not overly pushy.

5. Music Stores - Some music stores have places specifically for promotional items to be displayed. Remember to ask permission before leaving anything.

6. Give Fliers to fellow students, co-workers, etc. Same as above, direct them to Hanson.net or loan them your Walk CD.

7. Grocery Stores, Laudromats, etc - Sound strange? Not really. College students rarely have their own washers and dryers and they have to go grocery shopping. Ask permission to post a flier in these places or leave some for others to take.

8. Flier on your Dorm Door - Simply posting a flier on yor dorm room door will get attention. Now they might not ask you about the music directly, but they just might check out the website. Don't forget there are still a lot of 'closet' Hanson fans.

9. College Radio Stations - If you know someone at your college station, loan them your The Walk cd. If you don't know anyone at your college station, find out who takes care of programming and make an appointment to see them.

10. On other music forums when asked what other artists you listen to, list Hanson.

11. Wear a Hanson shirt. Several STers report being stopped and asked about the guys simply because they are wearing the latest shirt.

12. Candy giveaways - Several Street Team members used this idea during Halloween. Several more have plans for Christmas. For Christmas, attend your local holiday parade, dorm party, etc. Take fliers and attach a small candy cane or other inexpensive holiday treat.

13. Post Office - Each post office is different, but many have a special place that the public can leave fliers or at least post one on a bulletin board. Ask permission! This is a high traffic place so if you can place at least one flier, a lot of people will see it.

14. Clubs, concerts, etc - Many clubs/venues will allow you to either hand out fliers or leave a stack. Some have a bulletin board. As always, ask permission first!

15. Add a link to Hanson.net in your email siggie.

16. Add a link to Hanson.net in your AIM away message or profile.

17. List Hanson and a link to Hanson.net on your MySpace under bands you like.

18. Add a Hanson banner to your Live Journal, Xanga, MySpace or Facebook pages.

19. Play the music! Play the music in your car, in your dorm and everywhere else.

20. Use the banners provided on your personal websites.

21. Add Hanson concerts to your MySpace or Facebook calendars

22. Invite all your friends to any shows you'll be attending via MySpace, Facebook, and other social sites

23. Print business cards to tell people about The Walk, Hanson's charity work, how they can hep, etc. Be sure to include a link to Hanson.net.

24. Request NEW Hanson music at college radio stations. Great Divide is a terrific choice because it will give you the opportunity to talk about Hanson's activism as well as their music.

Promo - What Not To Do

1. Do not put flyers in a place you've been told not to.

2. Do not place flyers on cars if there is a law in your area forbidding it

3. Do not move music in a store to a different shelf from where the store has it placed. Music store employees have to rearrange and put everything back in its proper place. By moving items, you are making their job more difficult.
